Job Description
Radiology Tech - MRI Tech
Position Overview
Conduct magnetic resonance imaging procedures to produce high-contrast diagnostic images. Screen patients for contraindications, position for MRI, and optimize sequences while ensuring safety and comfort in the imaging suite.
Collaborate with radiologists and technologists to deliver accurate studies and support diagnostic evaluation within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and perform MRI exams across body regions using appropriate protocols
  • Screen patients for implants, claustrophobia, or contraindications; manage contrast administration when trained
  • Position patients and equipment to optimize image quality and safety
  • Monitor patients during scans and respond to any adverse events
  • Process images, ensure correct labeling, and enter results into the EHR
  • Maintain MRI safety standards and equipment quality control
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other staff to meet exam objectives
  • Document procedures and participate in ongoing QA activities
Qualifications
Education:
Associate degree or higher in Radiologic Technology with MRI emphasis from an accredited program; advanced MRI training preferred.
Licensure:
State licensure or eligibility; ARRT certification in Radiography and MR is common.
Certifications:
  • ARRT - Magnetic Resonance (MR)
  • CPR
  • BLS
Experience or Skills:
Experience performing MRI in clinical settings; strong patient communication and safety practices; familiarity with contrast agents.
Experience
  • Experience conducting MRI exams in hospital or imaging center
  • Experience with MRI safety and screening procedures
Preferred
  • Experience with advanced MRI sequences and neuro or musculoskeletal imaging
Work Environment
Imaging suite with specialized equipment and MRI safety protocols; collaboration with radiology team and MRI technologists.
Variable scheduling including some evenings or weekends; documentation in EHR is standard.
