Description
The Paralegal Studies Certificate Program at Hofstra Law School seeks a qualified instructor to teach courses in Introduction to Law, Civil Litigation, Family Law, Real Estate Law, Business Organizations, Legal Research and Writing, Immigration Law, Contract Law, Bankruptcy Law, Wills, Trusts & Estates, Criminal Law, and Information Technology for Paralegals.
This is an in-person teaching position designed for professionals who are passionate about legal education and committed to preparing students for successful paralegal careers. The program serves adult learners completing an intensive six-month, 306-hour certificate program. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Teach assigned courses in accordance with the program's approved curriculum and learning outcomes.
  • Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that integrates legal theory with practical application.
  • Utilize technology, including the Canvas Learning Management System, to post materials, manage assignments, and communicate with students.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and course documentation.
  • Foster a professional, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and collaborate with the Program Director to ensure course consistency and instructional quality.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Quals Summary
  • College or adult education teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and learning management systems (preferably Canvas).
  • Practical legal experience in one or more of the following areas:
