Job description

The Powder Room Machine Operator performs routine tasks to produce piezoelectric powders and fired ceramics in accordance with company policy and safety procedures. Assists the Powder Production Supervisor in conducting process experiments.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set-up and operate a range of automatic or semiautomatic machines.
  • Work with raw materials. Identify and retrieve items specified in job documentation, conduct weigh outs and maintain accurate inventory logs.
  • Evaluate and verify that production items are within tolerances and meet specifications as outlined in job documentation.
  • Conduct minor preventative maintenance, adjustments and repairs.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work environment. Follow and suggest improvements to powder handling procedures to minimize the generation of dust, routinely clean work areas and participate in 6S initiatives.
  • Use a range of documents to perform work, such as job routers, quality documents and work instructions.
  • Must meet and maintain daily production targets (once fully trained).
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment as necessary including but not limited to: eye and hearing protection, safety shoes, lab coats, gloves, dust masks and respirators.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience/Background:
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a U.S. person or protected individual within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines U.S. persons and protected individuals as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), U.S. Temporary Resident, Political Asylee or Refugee.

Skills:
  • Machine and mechanical aptitude
  • Use of micrometers, calipers, scales
  • General computer skills
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Must be highly motivated, self-starter and work as a team player
  • Must have high levels of attention to detail and quality, be able to multitask and stay organized
  • Must demonstrate the ability to act professionally
  • Must be able to occasionally move about in production areas as needed
  • Ability to lift up-to 50 pounds

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent. Combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements:
Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb. May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
