Job description

Position Summary and Responsibilities: Performs various task in the packing department involving packing, weighing, and labeling of products for distributors. 

Essential duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•    Set up machines for packaging and adjust for each product being packaged. Change dies, films, and labels.
•    Keep product at required workstations for designated employees to package.
•    Place product in boxes, weigh, place labels, tape, and stack on pallets for shipping.
•    Strip casings from sausage and place in slicer for patties.
•    Operate cubing equipment for cubed steak and pork.
•    Responsible for housekeeping and sanitation within the department to include assembling and disassembling of equipment.
•    Learn and retain thorough knowledge of packaging processes and equipment.
•    Follow all company polices, rules, and procedures.
•    Ensure quality of products are maintained and report any process or equipment issues to supervisor.
•    Verify correct label, weight, and date information on products that are being handled.
•    Receive incoming materials and supplies to the manufacturing facility.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
•    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 
•    Basic math skills required.
•    Must be proficient with computer programs such as MS Office, and various ERP systems.
•    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Physical Requirements:
•    Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
•    Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
•    Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced production environment.
•    Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
•    Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work in wet and cold (32-40º) environment.
