Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists Driver with care of student to and from their assigned education center or school related functions while complying with school system, local, state and federal traffic regulations. This position reports to the Transportation Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with transporting students over specified routes to local or distant points including and/or elementary, middle, high school, midday education programs.
Maintains orderly student conduct.
Conducts student emergency evacuation drills as required.
Sweeps and cleans inside of the bus as needed.
Provides maximum safety for passengers while on the bus, during the loading, and unloading.
Operates wheelchair lift to assist students in loading and unloading.
Communicates effectively with school staff and the public.
Attends and participate in all in-service and enrichment activities provided through the Clayton County Public Schools System.
Knowledge of each child's exceptionality and what it entails physically for transporting.
Operates equipment to properly secure wheelchairs for safe student transportation.
Perform any other duties as described by the Director of Transportation, or other supervisors.
ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION:
Must be able to conduct emergency evacuation of children from rear of bus (appx. 3 feet to ground). Weight on lifting up to 150 lbs. Must be able to physically carry child if they are unable to walk due to braces, walker, crutches, etc. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, push, pull or bend when necessary.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Hiring is conditional upon the candidate passing a physical examination required by the State Department of Transportation. (This will be conducted by CCPS)
Must be able to lift at least twenty (25) pounds and ascend/descend set of 3 to 4 steps to access bus.
Must successfully complete the School Bus Monitor Training Program provided by Clayton County Transportation Department.
Must have a criminal background check. (This will be conducted by CCPS)
Must be able to work and communicate well with drivers, administrators, and students.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
This is a part-time position working 6 hours 186 days a year.
