Job description

Place of Performance: Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota
Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, with posted duty hours. Additional hours may be required for classes, meetings, and special events.
Summary:
The Catholic Religious Education Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and supporting the Catholic Religious Education program at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Working closely with the Catholic Priest and Chapel Staff, the Coordinator helps foster faith formation for children, youth, and families in a welcoming and well-organized environment. All programs are conducted in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS), USA.
Requirements:
  • Must be a practicing Catholic who has received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
  • Must hold a valid Catechist Certificate issued by the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated experience in Catholic theology and catechesis.

Duties:
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee Catholic Religious Education programs for children and youth.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists and program staff.
  • Ensure curriculum and instruction align with AMS guidance and Chapel policies.
  • Maintain accurate records for participants and volunteers, and prepare required reports.
  • Coordinate schedules, classroom assignments, and facility setup to ensure readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, background check requirements, and Air Force regulations.
  • Attend required meetings and provide support for special liturgical and community events as directed.
