About IPSD
Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary:
Caterpillar in Seguin, Texas is seeking a dynamic Production Technician III to join our Power Generation team! As a production technician supporting the assembly of diesel generators, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, working hands-on to assemble, test, and troubleshoot our cutting-edge equipment. In this role, you will help develop other production technicians' skillsets. Additional Information:
  • $20.50 hourly starting wage
  • 2nd Shift will receive a 10% shift premium.
  • Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 4:18pm-2:48am. Overtime as required.
  • Training will be on 1st Shift until October 2026.
  • Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.

What you will do:
  • Align and secure engine components according to work instructions
  • Install gaskets, seals, wiring, hoses, covers, and visual components
  • Ensure parts and materials used in assembly are defect-free
  • Assist in problem-solving and improvement initiatives across departments
  • Verify correct alignment of engine components using schematics and part prints
  • Inspect parts and materials for quality defects
  • Conduct audits and quality inspections to address known defects
  • Perform torque audits, leak tests, and visual inspections on engines
  • Submit and support resolution of C.P.S. Continuous Improvement cards
  • Assist in problem-solving and improvement initiatives across departments
  • Escalate issues and the necessary resources to root cause and develop counter measures
  • Collaborate with other departments to address assembly-related challenges and suggest improvements
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and area-specific instructions
  • Train and develop new team members as needed
  • Provide information to supervisors and managers regarding processes in the assigned area
  • Occasionally participate in training and development
  • Perform any other assigned duties

What you will have:
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience in a manufacturing work environment or relevant college degree
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work autonomously & take initiative
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English
  • Intermediate experience with computers, tablets, and with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Previous experience with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adhere to safety procedures

What would make you a top candidate:
  • At least 1-years' experience assembling products
  • Previous experience reading complex electrical assembly instructions
  • Previous experience utilizing PLEX
  • Previous experience with similar electrical cabinet (repair or assembly)
  • Previous experience and/or certification in operating forklifts, tugger, and/or other power equipment
  • Previous experience leading/training others in a formal or informal capacity

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive operations
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
