The Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN currently has an opening for a Quality Technician Torque Analyst. In this role you will be responsible for performing inspection and documentation of torque control tooling fit, and function. This individual will also respond to shop calls to inspect, repair, and replace torque tooling that is not meeting Engineering specification for torque. Other activities include processing dealer returned material, performing correlation audits with suppliers, and rework nonconforming material to support assembly.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • React to assembly/machine shop line calls for problematic torque-controlled tooling
  • Read Caterpillar assembly prints
  • Troubleshoot issues with pneumatic and electric torque-controlled tooling
  • Work with engineering to ensure specification for torque 1E0279 is met on all bolted joints
  • Strong customer focus, communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work with diverse groups

Basic Qualifications:
  • Gaging experience
  • Quality experience
  • Engine knowledge
  • Print reading skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and electric tooling
  • Successful candidate will be required to complete the Quality Specialist exercise within the first six months of service in this assignment

Top Candidates will also:
  • Possess problem solving skills
  • Be flexible to work overtime as needed to support production demands
  • Possess and show strong interpersonal skills and apply customer-based focus

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend and twist at the waist and be able to squat.
  • Stand on concrete for 8+ hours.

Additional Information:
  • Position available on 1st shift: 6:30am-2:30pm.
  • This position with train on 1st shift. Transition timeline to 3rd shift is TBD.
