Job description

Overview

As a Category Management Associate Manager on the Sam’s Club team, you will translate category, member, shopper, marketplace, and performance signals into commercial strategies that accelerate growth for PepsiCo and the customer. This role sits at the intersection of category management, shopper intelligence, analytics, and customer strategy — converting data into actionable recommendations that influence assortment, merchandising, innovation, omnichannel activation, and long-range planning.

The successful candidate will serve as a thought partner to the customer team, helping identify category trends, competitive threats, member/shopper behavior shifts, and business-building opportunities. This role will move beyond reporting to uncover the “so what” and “now what,” developing clear recommendations that support both portfolio and category growth.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze category, customer, PepsiCo, and competitor performance to identify drivers of sales, share, velocity, distribution, assortment, and merchandising outcomes.
  • Translate POS, syndicated, panel, loyalty/member, shopper, digital commerce, and internal data into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Develop compelling sell stories and business reviews that connect category performance, shopper behavior, customer priorities, and PepsiCo growth opportunities.
  • Support quarterly and annual planning processes by identifying strategic opportunities, competitive risks, and actionable growth platforms.
  • Partner with Sales, Shopper Marketing, Digital Commerce, Consumer/Shopper Insights, Finance, Supply Chain, and Analytics teams to ensure recommendations are integrated and executable.
  • Help elevate the insights function by turning data and research into repeatable frameworks, scalable learnings, and faster decision-making.
  • Monitor emerging category, shopper, retail, omnichannel, and competitive trends to identify opportunities for PepsiCo and Sam’s Club.
  • Stay current on category management best practices, shopper behavior, advanced analytics, retail media, and AI-enabled tools to continuously improve team capability and impact.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $93,500 - $156,450.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 15% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.
  • In addition to salary, PepsiCo offers a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees and their families, subject to elections and eligibility: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Health, and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Insurance (Accident, Group Legal, Life), Defined Contribution Retirement Plan.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in Category Management, Shopper/Consumer Insights, Commercial Insights, Sales Strategy, Analytics, or related CPG/retail roles.
  • Experience working with syndicated, POS, panel, loyalty/member, shopper, customer, or digital commerce data; familiarity with Circana, NielsenIQ, Numerator, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar tools preferred.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize multiple data sources into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong storytelling and presentation skills; able to build clear, compelling narratives for internal and customer-facing audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong planning and organization skills; able to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curiosity and comfort with emerging analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools that improve speed to insight and decision-making.
  • This position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States.
  • Role preferred to be based in Rogers, AR.
