Location - Remote with occasional travel to Raritan, NJ
Duration: 6-12 Months Contract
Experience: 8-10 Years .
Job Description:
Design, build and configure Alation applications to meet business process and application requirements.
Must have Skills : Alation Data Catalog
Job Requirements :
The Alation SME is responsible for the end-to-end administration, configuration, and continuous optimization of the Alation data catalog platform.
Design and implement data governance operating models, including data ownership, stewardship, and accountability.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements for data governance, cataloging, and metadata management. Translate these into functional specifications for Alation
Define and implement operating models, policies, and standards. Establish data ownership and stewardship models to ensure data assets are accurately categorized and trusted.
Develop training programs and onboarding materials for data stewards and business users to drive catalog adoption and data literacy.
Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to communicate complex technical info to non-technical audiences
Key Responsibilities:
Implement Alation best practices and recommend improvements.
Collaboration with Stakeholders: Partner with data governance, data management, and IT teams to ensure that Alation aligns with broader data strategy and governance frameworks. Liaise with business users, data stewards, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure that the platform meets business needs.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in data governance, data cataloging, or data management, with at least 5+ years of experience working with Alation.
Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data stewardship, and metadata management.
Experience with relational databases, ETL tools, and data warehouse environments.
Familiarity with SQL and scripting languages (Python, Shell,Java etc.) for automation and troubleshooting.
Ability to configure Alation's core components and has hands-on experience on functional architecture
Experience with data governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica, or similar is a plus.
Experience in implementing Alation within large enterprise environments
