Location: UHealth Tower

The Department of Patient Access has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Cash Operations Specialist. The Cash Operations Specialist performs daily cash operations, payment processing, reconciliations, audits, and compliance activities in support of Patient Access and revenue cycle operations. This role ensures accurate handling of patient payments, adherence to internal controls, and compliance with University policies and regulatory requirements. The position operates independently within established procedures and escalates complex issues as appropriate.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

• Reconciles daily cash, check, and credit card transactions to system records and merchant reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

• Performs daily audits of cash drawers, safes, and deposit activity, documenting results and investigating discrepancies.

• Identifies variances in financial activity and escalates unresolved issues to leadership for review and resolution.

• Partners with Accounting, the Controller's Office, and Merchant Services to maintain accurate financial records and reporting.

• Approves same-day voids for patient payments in alignment with University policies and established controls.

• Ensures compliance with cash handling procedures, internal controls, audit standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Safeguards confidential patient, financial, and institutional information while protecting University assets.

• Retrieves, balances, and secures daily deposits and maintains accurate records of safe activity at both opening and close of business.

• Prepares and verifies deposits for armored courier transport, including deposit logs, change funds, and supporting documentation.

• Receives, verifies, and secures change funds from armored services, ensuring proper tracking and storage.

• Processes and posts patient payments, issues receipts, and maintains accurate transaction documentation across all payment types.

• Provides guidance and training to staff on cash handling procedures, reconciliation, and policy adherence.

• Supports daily operations by responding to inquiries, maintaining records, identifying training needs, and communicating issues and trends to leadership.

• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license

Certification and Licensing:
Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements

Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
