SUMMARY:
The Relationship Development Manager is responsible for leading business development efforts and mentoring branch managers and associates across a defined market. This position serves as the market champion in building relationships, driving community engagement, and supporting branch teams in achieving deposit, loan, and customer growth through relationship-based strategies. The Relationship Development Manager partners closely with Retail Leadership to align market goals, develop sales strategies, and strengthen Carter Bank's presence across communities we serve.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead business development efforts across the assigned market to expand customer relationships, strengthen community partnerships, and drive sustainable growth
  • Build partnerships with commercial, mortgage, and other market partners to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Partner with Retail Leadership to design and implement market-level sales strategies that align with Carter Bank's relationship-based approach and strategic objectives
  • Collaborate with branch managers to improve effectiveness in relationship conversations, focusing on needs discovery, retention, and referral generation
  • Collaborate with branch managers to assess business potential, analyze trends, and recommend strategies to improve performance
  • Conduct joint calls and actively engage in local market events and activities to grow the business
  • Provide field-based mentoring and real-time feedback to help associates strengthen their ability to deepen relationships and identify customer needs
  • Facilitate peer-learning opportunities by sharing success stories and best practices across the retail network
  • Partner with area managers and retail leadership to assess assigned branches performance, identify growth opportunities, and implement targeted strategies for improvement
  • Stay closely connected to market trends, competitive activities, and local economic changes to inform market planning and opportunity development
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to help branches identify growth opportunities
  • Analyze business development results, referral activity, and branch performance data to evaluate effectiveness and refine market strategies
  • Support onboarding and development of new branch managers to ensure strong understanding of Carter Bank's relationship development expectations
  • Champion a culture of collaboration, accountability, and relationship excellence within the market

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, equivalent field, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Experience in retail banking and/or branch management
  • Experience in mentoring teams and leading through influence
