POSITION TITLE
Senior Designer, Commercial Printed Carpet
LOCATION
Spartanburg, SC or LaGrange, GA (Hybrid; 3 Days On-Site/2 days remote)

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Designer leads the creative development of commercial printed carpet-from concept through production-for workplace, education, and healthcare environments. This role balances elevated design thinking with strong manufacturing knowledge, translating trends and inspiration into repeatable, production-ready patterns that perform in real spaces.
This position reports to the VP of Marketing & Design, Milliken Flooring and owns the full design process, partner closely with Product Development, Manufacturing, and Marketing, and help shape cohesive collections that are differentiated, manufacturable, and compelling to specifiers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead creation of commercial printed carpet designs from concept, pattern development, and color exploration through final production handoff.
  • Build cohesive collections with clear design intent across pattern families, scale, texture, and color stories.
  • Design sophisticated 2D patterns with strong command of seamless repeats, modular systems, and multi-scale applications.
  • Translate market, trend, and customer insights into relevant, commercially viable product concepts.
  • Partner with Product Development and Manufacturing to adapt design intent into manufacturable solutions while balancing cost, quality, and performance.
  • Participate in sampling reviews and provide clear direction on refinements and color adjustments.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on collection storytelling, naming, visuals, and customer-facing materials.
  • Manage multiple projects, timelines, and design deliverables with clarity and accountability.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to a strong critique and collaboration culture.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED
  • Commercial interiors products (printed carpet, textiles, wallcovering, or hard surface).
  • Experience supporting product launches and design storytelling.
  • Familiarity with specification-driven design for workplace, education, and healthcare.
