Job description

Position Summary

The Carbon Inside Sales Team Lead is responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of Samuel's carbon product portfolio within the Rochester Service Center. This role serves as the primary resource for carbon products by coordinating with suppliers, monitoring inventory, supporting pricing and quoting activities, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The position works closely with inside sales, operations, and purchasing to ensure customer needs are met and product availability is maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with carbon suppliers and vendors.
  • Coordinate carbon product purchasing activities, including supporting contract volumes, inventory replenishment, and stocking recommendations.
  • Review inventory levels regularly and recommend purchasing decisions based on customer demand and market conditions.
  • Support pricing and quoting activities by working closely with Inside Sales Representatives on customer orders.
  • Coordinate with operations, purchasing, and logistics to help ensure timely product availability and delivery.
  • Maintain and grow an assigned customer base while providing excellent customer service.
  • Serve as the carbon product subject matter expert and provide guidance to the sales team on product availability, pricing, and sourcing.
  • Provide sales coverage and customer support for other sales representatives during vacations or absences.
  • Perform standard day-to-day sales activities, including order management, customer follow-up, and account support.
  • Promote a safe, collaborative, and customer-focused work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in inside sales, purchasing, supply chain, or metals distribution.
  • Experience working with carbon products or industrial metals preferred.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (AS400 experience preferred).
