Job description

Job Title: New Car Sales Manager Department: Sales – New Vehicles

Reports To: Dealer Principal 

Position Overview The New Car Sales Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing all aspects of the new‑vehicle sales department. This role oversees inventory strategy, pricing, sales performance, customer satisfaction, and team development. The manager ensures that all sales operations align with dealership standards, manufacturer requirements, and state/federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities Sales Leadership & Performance

• Drive new‑vehicle sales volume, gross profit, and F&I product penetration.

• Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales metrics; implement action plans to achieve targets.

• Conduct daily sales meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews.

• Ensure consistent execution of the dealership’s sales process and CRM utilization. Inventory & Merchandising

 • Manage new‑vehicle inventory levels, aging, and model mix to maximize turn and profitability.

• Coordinate with the General Manager and manufacturer reps on allocations, incentives, and ordering.

• Oversee lot presentation, vehicle display standards, and online merchandising accuracy. Customer Experience & Retention

• Maintain high CSI scores by ensuring a transparent, customer‑focused sales process. • Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally and in alignment with dealership policy.

• Support long‑term customer retention through follow‑up processes and loyalty initiatives. Team Management & Development • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor sales consultants and floor managers.

• Set clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable.

• Foster a culture of professionalism, compliance, and ethical sales practices. Compliance & Operational Excellence • Ensure adherence to all dealership policies, OEM standards, and state/federal regulations.

• Maintain accurate deal documentation and support the finance office in timely contract funding. • Collaborate with other departments (F&I, Service, Marketing, Accounting) to ensure seamless operations.

Qualifications

 • Minimum 3–5 years of automotive sales management experience (new‑car experience strongly preferred). • Proven track record of achieving sales and gross profit objectives.

• Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.

• Proficiency with CRM systems and dealership management software (CDK, Reynolds, Dealertrack, etc.).

• High level of integrity, professionalism, and customer‑service orientation. • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
