Captioning Assistant Jobs in Texas (NOW HIRING)

A-V Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Professional Realtime CART Captioner to support a dedicated corporate client. This role is responsible for delivering accurate, high-quality real-time captioning for virtual meetings and events, primarily during UK business hours.

This position initially supports coverage from approximately 3:00 a.m. - 6:30 a.m. Eastern Time (ET), with occasional flexibility required for after-hours meetings, events, or regional support needs. Following an initial 6-8 month period of consistent coverage, the role is expected to transition to an as-needed/on-demand support model.

Position Summary

The Professional Realtime CART Captioner provides communication access through real-time captioning for virtual meetings, ensuring participants have equal access to meeting content. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional real-time writing skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, real-time CART captioning for Zoom-based meetings and events.
• Maintain caption quality, accuracy, and readability in live environments.
• Simultaneously monitor audio, write real-time captions, and proofread developing output.
• Utilize a stenographic writer and Case CATalyst software to produce real-time captions.
• Maintain writing speeds and accuracy levels necessary to support professional real-time captioning environments (225+ WPM preferred).
• Troubleshoot and identify basic technical issues impacting caption delivery and escalate as appropriate.
• Protect confidential, proprietary, and sensitive information at all times.
• Participate in required meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
• Adhere to all organizational privacy, security, and confidentiality requirements during and after employment.

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist with light administrative or data-management tasks as assigned.
• Support special projects related to captioning operations and service delivery.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current certification or licensure, including one or more of the following:
• National Certified Speech-to-Text Provider (NCSP)
• Certified Realtime Captioner (CRC)
• Registered Professional Reporter (RPR)
• State-issued Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR)
• Demonstrated proficiency in real-time captioning and stenographic writing.
• Excellent spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and language skills.
• Strong concentration and memory-recall abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency with computers, virtual meeting platforms, and captioning technology.
• Strong customer service orientation and professional communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience providing CART services in corporate, higher education, or professional meeting environments utilizing CARTview and StreamText.
• Experience supporting Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or other virtual collaboration platforms.
• Familiarity with accessibility and communication access best practices.

Work Environment

• Fully remote, work-from-home position.
• Initial onboarding or training activities may occur onsite if required.
• Work is performed primarily in a professional home-office environment.
