Job description

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for supporting the development of production schedules, assisting the Master Scheduler with capacity planning, releasing manufacturing orders to the shop floor, monitoring production schedules and expediting the flow of materials and orders through the shop floor, scheduling incoming raw materials and outside processes, updating and monitoring all relevant data and schedules in the MRP / ERP system, assisting in the management of inventory levels, working with Engineering to develop tools and procedures to maximize facility and equipment utilization, identifying continuous improvement opportunities and assessing the impact of engineering change orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of production schedules in order to meet planned ship dates, including developing and maintaining Material Requirements Planning (MRP) rules to match strategies of assigned projects so as to maximize production efficiencies.
  • Assist the Master Scheduler with capacity planning, including analyzing forecasts, customer orders and past history versus existing workforce, materials and equipment and determine availability and constraints.
  • Release manufacturing orders to the shop floor, monitor production schedules and expedite the flow of materials and orders through the shop to ensure ship dates are met, including communicating and facilitating issues.
  • Schedule incoming raw materials and assists purchasing in scheduling outside processes.
  • Update and monitor all relevant production planning data and production schedules in the MRP / ERP system to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Assist in the management of inventory levels, including monitoring assigned inventory items to ensure both project and division objectives are met.
  • Work with Engineering to develop tools and procedures to maximize facility and equipment utilization.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and initiate efforts in order to implement LEAN principles throughout the organization.
  • Assess the impact of project management and engineering change orders and execute changes as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of Planning experience.
  • Intermediate experience utilizing MRP and ERP systems, including demonstrated experience using ERP planning and integration concepts.
  • PC skills in a Windows environment, proficient with Excel.
  • Effective English language written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in a precision machine shop environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing planning in a project environment.
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 environment.
  • LEAN / Six Sigma training and demonstrated application.
  • APICS certification.
  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense industries
  • Experience with IFS MRP system.
