Job description

The Diocese of Lansing, located in Lansing, Michigan, is accepting applications for the Director of Building and Properties position. The position assists the governing aspect of the Bishop of Lansing's administrative responsibility by overseeing diocesan-owned properties, construction, and facilities operations. This role manages diocesan-owned property acquisitions and dispositions, capital improvement projects, renovations, and repairs. The position ensures compliance with diocesan policies, industry best practices, and legal requirements regarding workplace environment, safety, and insurance.
The position oversees the capital expenditure budgets for the diocesan chancery and coordinates all temporal goods requests on behalf of the parishes, schools, and agencies for presentation to the CFO and required diocesan committees. The incumbent serves in a consultative capacity to parishes, schools, and agencies as needed.
The successful candidate must have significant experience in construction project management. Experience with Catholic church and school buildings is helpful in this role. The incumbent must be able to work collaboratively and collegially with the chancery staff as well as with the pastors in our 71 parishes and administrators of our four high schools and five charity agencies. Tenacious attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are required skills.
