Position: SME Consultant (Data Center Construction)
Pay: $50-75/hr (1099)
Please note this is an hourly contract position with variable hours and is not eligible for company benefits. Work is 100% remote. Some availability during business hours is needed to attend scheduled Zoom meetings.
SMEs serve as advisors to Interplay and play a key part of our growth by helping us build industry-leading training content to advance the data center industry.
At this time, we are looking for subject matter experts with direct data center construction expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Electrical
    • Install switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, power distribution units, busways, panels, grounding, lighting, and receptacles.
  • Network and fiber
    • Install structured cabling, fiber-optic cable, telecommunications systems, access control, cameras, alarms, and building controls.
    • Terminate, splice, test, label, and certify connections between equipment rooms, racks, and network infrastructure.
  • Rack Installation
    • Assemble, position, anchor, bond, align, and label server racks, install rack accessories and prepare them for power, cabling, and IT equipment.
  • HVAC
    • Install chillers, cooling towers, air-handling units, computer room air conditioners, pumps, piping, ventilation, and controls.
  • Plumbing and Pipefitting
    • Install domestic water, drainage, fuel-gas piping, condenser-water piping, chilled-water piping, and equipment connections.

You will play a critical role on the Production Team, working with designers & developers to create and review content for skilled trades training.

What you'll do:
  • Advise internal teams on industry dynamics and best practices
  • Use your expertise to support content development for VR simulations and eLearning videos
  • Advise on construction and installation
  • Develop and assist in the creation of procedure guides
  • Write and record voiceover scripts and screencasts for videos
  • Generate valid and reliable test questions/knowledge checks
  • Develop fault scenarios
  • Review courses for accuracy

Who you are:
  • Extensive knowledge of Data Center Construction
  • Teaching or training experience is preferred
  • Organized and communicative with the team
  • Desire and ability to collaborate with designers and developers and respond to queries and feedback within 1-2 business days

  • Teaching, training or mentoring experience is ideal
  • Computer skills - G-Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Camtasia (video tutorial and presentation software), will teach
  • Writing skills for knowledge checks and procedure guides
  • Availability during business hours to attend scheduled Zoom meetings
