What Is a Campus Police Officer?
A campus police officer works in a law enforcement professional whose jurisdiction is a school or college campus. While focusing more on prevention than other officers, they perform many of the same duties, such as providing security, investigating crimes, and enforcing local, state, and federal laws. They typically report to the director of police or campus security as well as school administrators. A campus police officer may also provide support to local police departments. If they work at a public institution, qualifications include becoming a commissioned police officer.

What is the difference between Campus Police Officer vs Security Guard?
| Aspect | Campus Police Officer | Security Guard |
|---|---|---|

| Work Environment | Campus grounds, law enforcement duties, enforce laws | Buildings, events, or property security, monitor for safety |
| Employer & Industry | Educational institutions, law enforcement agencies | Private security companies, businesses, or institutions |
Campus Police Officers and Security Guards both focus on safety within campus environments. Their roles overlap in maintaining safety, but their training, authority, and responsibilities differ significantly.
