POSITION SUMMARY
The Lab Technician role at STgenetics is built for career-focused individuals seeking long-term growth in a high-quality laboratory environment. This position offers hands-on, structured on-the-job training and a defined pathway to increased technical responsibility and advancement within the laboratory.
The Lab Technician will begin by applying foundational laboratory skills—such as flow cytometry and sperm physiology—while receiving comprehensive training under the supervision of the Lab Manager and experienced technicians. Over time, employees will expand their technical expertise to independently operate multiple sorting units, support lab operations at a higher level, and contribute to training and mentoring newer team members. As proficiency and experience grow, Lab Technicians may be assigned independent responsibilities and participate in special projects that support process improvements and long-term laboratory success.
This role is ideal for individuals who want to build a stable, rewarding career in laboratory sciences, develop specialized technical skills, and progress within a growing, innovative organization.
Shift Differential:
A 20% differential pay is provided for all hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM, recognizing the commitment and expertise required for evening and overnight operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
  • Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and communicate with all team members in a professional manner.
  • Operate and maintain sorters and lab computers for data entry.
  • Participate in daily production of sexed semen with emphasis on sterility and semen quality.
  • Perform daily job duties to include sorter startup, calibration, sort setup and shutdown. In addition, sorter cleaning, sterilization and bacterial testing.
  • Use sterile techniques at all times to avoid contaminating any laboratory areas, samples or instrumentation.
  • Use various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, email, internet, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or test reports.
  • Use and comply with universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from biohazardous materials.
  • Exhibit proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical and biological agents and/or radiation sources in the workplace.
  • Monitor inventory levels and proper storage of materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Keep current on knowledge of vendors and suppliers of materials specific to the laboratory requirements.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 2+ years’ related experience or equivalent education
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work any shift; including evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access
