Job description

Summary
Under direct supervision, provide basic support to laboratory functions including maintenance, operation and inventory of equipment and supplies. Support research investigators as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide clean and sterilized glassware for use in research lab.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of basic lab equipment such as autoclaving.
  • Make and supply media buffers and water to research areas as needed.
  • Assist in organizing and setup lab supplies and equipment for individual research investigators.
  • Assist with inventory and record of supplies. Participate in meetings with principle investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
  • Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.
  • Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.

Qualifications
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education an on equivalent basis.
Minimum Required Education: High School Diploma
Physical Requirements
Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.
Work Environment
Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.
Sensory Acuity
Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
