Cal-Line Equipment is looking to hire an experienced Shop Attendant to join our growing team. We specialize in vegetation management equipment, catering to the arborist industry and are the largest dealer in the world for Bandit Industries’ market leading product line of woodchippers, stump grinders and whole-tree chippers. We have six locations across the Western U.S. including locations in California, Oregon, and Washington. In addition, we are a leader in promoting education within our industry, conducting seminars ranging from safety, operations and maintenance and bugs and disease.

The shop assistant is an integral role in the strength and performance of the dealership and is a perfect steppingstone for someone looking to expand their skills in maintenance and repair of heavy equipment. On the job training for skills such as welding/torching, electrical and hydraulic repair is offered for candidates with mechanical aptitude and a great attitude.

Salary: $22.00 - $25.00 an hour depending on experience.

Our Shop Assistant will support the Parts and Service Department.

Job Description:

  • Resharpening of knives using precision grinding equipment
  • Loading/unloading equipment for customers and drivers
  • Upon unloading equipment, checking for damage to equipment
  • PDI of new machines
  • Refueling of gasoline or diesel, oil, water levels for equipment, pressure washers, and forklifts
  • Assisting in the cleaning of equipment and trucks to prepare for delivery.
  • Repair and maintenance of machines starting with oil changes and progressing as skillset increases
  • Use of high-pressure washers for cleaning of equipment
  • Checking hour meters on equipment for use
  • Cleaning the service and parts bays and yard by sweeping shop floors, rearranging rental equipment, or using a pressure washer to clean the yard.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Parts or Service Manager and any Cal Line Equipment, Inc. Manager

Physical Demands and/or Work Environment

  • Frequent holding and grasping with the hands when loading and unloading equipment
  • Frequent use of foot/feet to operate foot pedal/s on equipment and trucks
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
  • Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas, and/or fumes.
  • Other duties assigned as needed
