Job description

Telecommunications Technician (Cable Technician / Installer)

Fort Wayne, IN

Full-Time Contract (6 Months – Potential Extension/Contract to Hire)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (50-hour work week required)


Key Responsibilities
  • Install, terminate, and maintain low-voltage telecommunications cabling systems
  • Perform rack and stack of server cabinets and network equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity and network issues
  • Conduct routine inspections and ensure system functionality
  • Configure and support telecom devices and systems (routers, switches, etc.)
  • Pull, route, and secure cable in commercial and data center environments
  • Maintain accurate records of installation and service activity
  • Follow safety protocols and industry standards at all times
  • Provide technical support and collaborate with team members onsite

Required Skills & Experience (Must-Have)
  • Minimum 6+ months of commercial low-voltage cabling experience (data center or large commercial environment preferred)
  • Experience with cable installation, cable pulling, and telecom systems
  • Proficiency using basic telecom hand tools
  • Experience with:
    • Low-voltage systems
    • Rack and stack installations
    • Troubleshooting connectivity issues
  • Strong work ethic and ability to perform physical labor (lifting, climbing ladders, standing for extended periods)

Nice-to-Have Skills
  • OSP (Outside Plant) experience
  • Familiarity with VoIP, PBX systems, and networking protocols
  • Experience working in high-volume data center environments
