Job description

Structured Cabling Technician (Contract)

Location: Jeffersonville, IN

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 6-month contract (strong potential for extension)

Schedule: Monday–Friday (rotating 40–55 hour weeks)


Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Structured Cabling Technicians to support ongoing cabling and networking projects. This role is ideal for hands-on technicians (not installers) with a mix of copper and fiber experience who can work in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating hours.


Key Responsibilities
  • Install, terminate, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems
  • Work with a mix of fiber and copper (Cat5/Cat6) cabling
  • Perform cable termination with high accuracy and quality
  • Conduct fiber work, including splicing (automatic splicing experience preferred)
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards on all job sites
  • Collaborate with team members and maintain strong communication with supervisors

Required Qualifications
  • Prior experience in structured cabling (technician-level, not installer)
  • Ability to terminate cables (critical requirement)
  • Experience with fiber and either Cat5 or Cat6 (not required to have all)
  • Strong understanding of cabling and networking fundamentals
  • Experience in low-voltage environments (with cabling/networking exposure)
  • Strong attention to safety procedures and jobsite compliance
  • Excellent communication and soft skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Fiber splicing experience (automatic splicing highly preferred)
  • Experience working in dynamic environments with fluctuating workloads

Work Schedule
  • Rotating weekly hours:
    • One week: ~40 hours
    • Following week: 50–55+ hours
  • Must be flexible to accommodate workload changes

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
