Job Opportunity

Position Summary This position will provide gearbox and transmission expertise and knowledge in support of designated classic car restoration, recreation and refurbishment projects in order to meet customer requirements. This will involve the provision of a range of auto mechanical services with a primary focus on gearbox and transmission assignments and set up knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Control system design, testing, and implementation for industrial processes.
  • Gearbox examination and testing
  • Dis-assemble gearboxes tagging parts as needed
  • Repair and replacement of damaged gearbox parts valves, pumps, and cylinders, with particular emphasis on bands, gears and seals.
  • Ordering parts, where required via our internal Parts Team from suppliers.
  • Re-assembly of gearbox and linkage testing
  • Drive train testing as required.
  • Conversions from 4 to 5 gear transmission
  • Completing reports on work performed.
  • Maintaining workplace cleanliness to protect against malfunction / workplace hazards
  • Observing health and safety standards and procedures at all times
  • Carry out any other projects in support of classic car restoration such as vehicle owner customization requests valves, pumps, and cylinders.
  • Reconfigure existing gearboxes (swap gear assembly to change ratio, install or replace c-force motor adapters, shovel bases, top mounts, etc.)
  • Install motors on gearboxes (some configurations require shaft alignment) Bore and key shaft coupling hubs, sprockets and other shaft accessories
  • Inspect and reassemble used gear reducers
  • Repair gear reducers (replace gears as needed, replace bearings, seals, shims and gasket, etc.)
  • Basic electric motor modifications (add c-face flange, rotate terminal box, etc.)
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned.
