Manager Trainee Job Summary

Baillie Lumber Co. has as opening for a Manager Trainee at our Smyrna, NY location as well as for our other New York based locations.

This location is a concentration yard responsible for manufacturing hardwood lumber. The position would consist of working and learning several different jobs around the facility. Baillie has utilized our trainee program over the last 40 years as our greatest talent pipeline, and as the company continues to grow, more and more managers are needed across the country.

Manager Trainee Job Responsibilities:

  • Working with Kiln Operator learning kiln schedule and assisting him on his day to day routine
  • Learning how to grade hardwood lumber
  • Occasionally traveling with a salesman or buyers to be exposed to where our lumber comes from and goes to
  • Working on a project that either reduces cost or increases production at the facility
  • Working directly with the Yard Manager to learn the daily operations of the facility, and his day to day task

Manager Trainee Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Forestry, or a related field
  • Ability to work a long, flexible schedule in a year-round outdoor environment

Manager Trainee Pay & Benefits:

  • Minimum - Anticipated Maximum Salary: $20 - $25/hour
