You'll also help maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the workspace, manage inventory, and provide advice or recommendations to customers seeking specific cuts or cooking tips. Collaboration with other team members is important, as you may need to coordinate special orders or assist during busy periods. Job description

Butcher's Assistant — Part-Time
Whiskey Barrel Meats · Mapleton, ND

Whiskey Barrel Meats is a boutique butcher shop and Smokehouse Lounge one block off I-94. Hand-cut meats, a self-pour tap wall, and a 1920s room that customers drive 200 miles to see. We are looking for one part-time Butcher's Assistant to keep the case full and the smokehouse running.
This is hands-on work. You will learn the craft from the ground up — grinding, mixing, stuffing, smoking, cutting, and packaging — and you will be trusted with the product that carries our name.
What you'll do

  • Process and package house-made sausage, beef sticks, and smoked products start to finish: grind, mix, stuff, smoke, cut, vac-seal, label
  • Run and monitor the smoker, log cook and cooling temperatures for our HACCP records, and hold our food-safety standard without exception
  • Stock and rotate the retail cases and coolers, tag product, and manage freezer-to-floor flow by lot and date
  • Keep the work area, equipment, and walk-ins clean and orderly
  • Help customers at the counter during morning and weekend hours — and represent the shop the way it deserves
What we're looking for

  • Reliable, on time, and steady under a busy Saturday counter
  • Comfortable on your feet, lifting up to 50 lbs,
  • Detail-oriented enough to follow a recipe and a temperature log to the letter
  • Butchery or kitchen experience welcome but not required. We train the right person.
The details

  • Part-time, a variation of mornings and weekends.  (approximately 10 hours per week)
  • Hourly, based on experience
