Job Summary:
1872 Consulting is a company focused on providing consulting services, and they are seeking a BI Systems Developer with a focus on financial systems. This role is responsible for performing in-depth data analysis and delivering information to support the Accounting and HR departments through various Business Intelligence methods.
Responsibilities:
• Perform complex data analysis on our main financial system, the data warehouse, and miscellaneous other business systems as needed;
• Work with the business units and management to analyze business processes, identify gaps and define requirements for technical solutions including reporting, data warehousing and general application development; assist in the development of process changes or new technical solutions to satisfy the business need;
• Develop reports using Crystal Report Developer or Cognos Report Studio for management reporting and financial analysis; create SQL-statement-based queries or tools to facilitate data analysis;
• Work as part of a team to develop data analysis models; create reports against source and data warehouse technologies; assist the business units in their information needs and end user reporting solutions;
• Work with end users and developers, including outside consultants, to gather business requirements and to communicate business and technical requirements for projects or operational needs;
• Work with end users to address ad-hoc data analysis requests; determine the proper course of action; and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to properly manage one's own workload;
• Troubleshoot data and application issues; fully analyze the impact and determine the strategy for a resolution; fully test and reconcile reports and data analyses; assist in the implementation of the solution;
• Assess the BI readiness of a business area and, when appropriate, implement a BI solution – from requirements gathering through post-implementation support.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 2+ years of experience with BI Development
• Understanding of relational database concepts along with experience with report writing and database query tools
• Experience with Cognos (TM1 preferred), PowerBI, Tableau and/or SSRS
• Experience writing complex SQL queries against a SQL Server (or similar) database
• SQL Server experience
Preferred:
• Two year work experience in a professional services industry
• Experience developing reports and/or dashboards from accounting and finance systems
