RISK MANAGER Location: Los Angeles, CA , The Valley Schedule: Full-Time- Onsite Pay: $90,000 - $105,000/year Type: Direct Hire Overview: A well-established nonprofit institution is seeking a Risk Manager to join their Finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role owns the organization's insurance and risk management programs end-to-end. This is a highly collaborative role that requires someone who can navigate detailed claims analysis with finance leadership one hour and walk a department director through a facilities risk concern the next.

Key Responsibilities Manage annual insurance policy renewals, including data gathering, broker coordination, coverage evaluation, and scenario analysis Serve as primary point of contact for all insurance claims across property, general liability, workers' compensation, auto, D&O, EPLI, cyber, and specialty lines Investigate and document incidents and claims, coordinating with security, operations, HR, and outside counsel as needed Maintain detailed claim files and generate regular status reports with findings shared across departments Oversee incident response protocols for visitor, vendor, and staff injuries, ensuring timely and professional handling Manage carrier invoices, prepaid insurance reconciliation, and annual risk budget in coordination with Accounting Collaborate cross-departmentally to identify operational, legal, and financial exposures and develop mitigation strategies Partner with brokers and underwriters on site surveys and implement recommendations Ensure compliance with all insurance-related regulatory requirements and support audit processes Requirements Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or related field 3-5 years of experience in risk management, insurance coordination, or claims handling Strong working knowledge of insurance principles, policy types, and claims processes Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with risk or claims management systems a plus Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of an organization Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Ideal Candidate Dual background in insurance/P&C and operations Broker or carrier side experience strongly preferred Retail, Cultural institution, or nonprofit experience a plus but not required Able to move fluidly between detailed claims analysis and cross-departmental communication Analytical and task-oriented with finance leadership, approachable and clear with non-finance colleagues Genuine interest in nonprofit or mission-driven work Vaco by Highspring values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.
