About this opportunity - Business Systems Manager/Owner
Description
We are looking for a high-energy, execution-focused IT Business Systems Manager/Owner to lead the ongoing delivery, configuration, and evolution of our core business software applications.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end role for an IT practitioner who thrives on functional system ownership. You won't just coordinate from afar - you will deeply understand the application, manage the roadmap, translate stakeholder needs into functional technical specs, and partner directly with internal and external technical teams to execute.
What You'll Do
  • Own the Business Domain: Serve as the single point of accountability for IT solutions within your assigned business area. Manage key executive and operational stakeholders, align tech initiatives with core business goals, and pick up loose ends to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Master & Drive the Systems: Become the functional expert on your designated applications. Design solution workflows and lead cross-functional development, vendor, and support teams to build and maintain systems to your exact functional design.
  • Manage Backlogs & Roadmaps: Translate business requirements into prioritized product backlogs and actionable technical roadmaps. Balance short-term operational fixes with long-term strategic enhancements.
  • Translate & Document: Author and maintain crucial project artifacts throughout the lifecycle, including functional spec documents, user stories, data mappings, business process flows, and training materials.
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Direct third-party implementation partners, SaaS vendors, internal resources and external consultants to ensure deliverables match requirements, budgets, and timelines.

What Success Looks Like
  • Velocity Through Ownership: Key milestones are met because you proactively unblock technical and operational bottlenecks in real time-adjusting the plan dynamically rather than waiting for original schedules to drift.
  • Earned Technical & Business Trust: Stakeholders and engineering teams rely on your guidance because you thoroughly understand both the business workflow and the system's capabilities.
  • High-Agency Execution: When a gap, edge case, or resource constraint emerges, you step in to troubleshoot, document, or resolve it directly whenever feasible-preventing unnecessary project downtime.
  • Measurable Adoption: Systems don't just launch; business teams actively adopt them, understand how to use them, and realize measurable efficiency gains post-go-live..

Core Experience
  • 7+ years in IT Project Management, Product Management, or Business Systems Analysis, with a proven track record delivering software applications.
  • 2-3+ full-cycle enterprise software implementations (e.g., ERP, CRM, QMS, HRIS) serving as the primary Lead Systems Analyst, Product Manager, or Technical Project Lead.
  • Strong background as a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) or Technical Analyst is required.

Technical & Delivery Skills
  • Functional Tech Literacy: Working knowledge of SaaS architecture, API integration concepts, data mapping, and database structures - enough to challenge, guide, and credibly direct software engineers.
  • BSA Rigor: Skilled in authoring clear user stories, functional spec documents, and process flow diagrams.
  • Project Execution: Strong proficiency with Agile/Scrum and hybrid project management frameworks, along with tools like Jira, Confluence, Asana, or Smartsheet.

Mindset & Soft Skills
  • Strong verbal, written, and executive presentation skills-equally comfortable presenting progress to leadership and diving into workflow details with technical teams in the same afternoon.
  • A pragmatic, "get-it-done" mentality with high agency and operational independence.

Nice-to-Haves
  • PMP, CSM, or relevant Agile certifications.
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., Medical Device or Life Sciences) with exposure to Computer Software Validation (CSV) protocols.
  • Experience delivering projects across multi-site or global teams

Physical Requirements:
Extended periods of sitting or speaking.
Light lifting.
Up to 15% domestic and international travel to company sites
Heavy computer use.
Must adhere to the company's safety practices by performing work safely and in accordance with established standards
Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
