About Howden Private Capital
Howden Private Capital (formerly Atlantic Global Risk) is the transactional risk arm of Howden, one of the world's leading independent insurance brokers. We advise private equity sponsors, real estate investors, corporates, and law firms on Representations & Warranties Insurance (RWI), Tax Liability Insurance, Contingent and Structured Risk, and Credit Insurance. Our team executes on the most complex M&A and capital markets transactions across North America and globally.
As we continue to scale our Real Estate practice, we are building a dedicated business development engine to support deeper penetration of the RE sponsor, REIT, and developer community across North America.
The Role
The AVP, Business Development - Real Estate is a high-velocity producer-support role focused on driving meeting volume, building relationships, and accelerating deal flow with real estate-focused private equity sponsors, REITs, developers, and their advisors. You will work in close partnership with senior Howden RE brokers and serve as the engine behind a disciplined, metrics-driven outreach program covering North America.
This is an ideal role for an early-to-mid career professional with strong relationship instincts, a bias toward action, and a network across the real estate transactional ecosystem - or the ability to build one quickly.
Key Responsibilities
  • Leverage your network to set up meetings for senior Howden RE brokers, with
  • responsibility for business development efforts across North America, with primary focus on key U.S. and Canadian financial centers including New York, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Toronto.
  • Set 8-12+ high-value meetings per week for senior RWI brokers and other senior Howden personnel covering the RE vertical.
  • Develop, maintain, and report on a disciplined and organized regional outreach strategy across the North American RE sponsor, REIT, developer, and law firm landscape.
  • Organize and attend periodic regional roadshows across U.S. and Canadian financial centers, including pre-meeting preparation, coordination with internal deal teams, and post-meeting follow-up communications to drive sustained relationship development and deal flow.
  • Build and maintain detailed account plans, target lists, and pipeline tracking using Power BI, Novidea, and other internal BD tools.
  • Partner with senior brokers on pitch preparation, meeting prep forms (MPFs), and tailored materials for priority accounts.
  • Represent Howden Private Capital at industry conferences, ICSC events, and RE[1]
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of RWI market dynamics in real estate, including portfolio transactions, single-asset deals, JV recapitalizations, and platform M&A. Qualifications
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of RWI market dynamics in real estate, including banking, real estate private equity, brokerage, or a closely related transactional role.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of RWI market dynamics in real estate, including estate sponsors, capital allocators, lenders, or M&A advisors.

  • Property & Casualty insurance license (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • Willingness to travel up to 30-40% across North America for roadshows, client meetings, and industry events.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 USD, commensurate with experience.

Reporting & Structure
This role reports into the Head of Business Development at Howden Private Capital and works in close partnership with the senior RE broking team and the broader Howden RE producer network.
