We are looking to add a Business Development Officer to our growing team. The Business Development Officer will play a central role in the firm's growth by supporting a team of advisors across several Waverly offices. This individual will own the front end of the business development pipeline, driving prospecting activity, nurturing strategic referral relationships, and helping guide prospective clients through the discovery and proposal process. This role is ideal for a highly motivated professional who combines relationship-building skills with a strong understanding of wealth advisory services, a proven track record of success, and a passion for helping others. 

Business Development Officer Responsibilities: 

Prospecting & Advisor Collaboration 

  • Partner with advisors to identify and engage prospective clients through targeted outreach and strategic campaigns. 
  • Qualify leads and match validated prospects with the appropriate Waverly advisor based on need, location, and specialty. 
  • Assist advisors with proposal preparation, presentation materials, and support throughout the prospect-to-client journey. 
  • Help implement systems to track and optimize advisor business development pipelines. 

Referral Relationship Management 

  • Serve as the firm's liaison with key localized referral sources including custodians, CPAs, estate attorneys, and other professional partners. 
  • Maintain and strengthen existing referral relationships while developing new high-quality referral channels. 
  • Track referral activity and support joint initiatives with external partners. 

Event Planning & Execution 

  • Collaborate on the design and execution of business development events across Waverly markets in conjunction with the Marketing department, including: 
  • Client-hosted referral events 
  • Strategic networking events 
  • Educational sessions for prospects and centers of influence 
  • Manage event logistics, outreach, attendance tracking, and post-event follow-up. 

Sales Operations & Reporting 

  • Maintain accurate records of pipeline activity and engagement in the firm's CRM system. 
  • Partner with Marketing and Advisor teams to ensure alignment on campaigns, materials, and messaging. 
  • Report on business development KPIs and contribute to continual process improvement. 
  • Support onboarding of new advisors by educating them on the firm's growth resources. 
  • Identify process improvements and technology enhancements to increase advisor efficiency and conversion rates. 

Required Qualifications and Skills:  

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, Marketing or a related field.  
  • 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or relationship management within financial services, asset management, or private banking - preferably within an RIA. 
  • Knowledge of financial advisory practices, including fee-based planning, client acquisition, and referral-based growth. 
  • Proven ability to build trust, manage relationships, and influence decision-makers. 
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple teams and locations. 
  • Demonstrated track record of success in sourcing, development and closing new business. 
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms (Salesforce, Redtail, etc.) and Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Willingness to travel to support regional teams.

  • Frequent travel to Waverly locations
