Job Summary
The Financial Services Strategy & Business Development Director effectively formulates and implements Connection's go-to-market strategy for the financial services industry, resulting in tangible long-term value creation for the company. The Director oversees all aspects of developing Connection's financial services vertical market strategy, integrating applicable technology products, software, and services at an aggregate level, and supporting financial services clients that are considered strategic to the organization. The Financial Services Strategy and Business Development Director collaborates with leadership across internal departments, as well as externally with suppliers, distributors, and partners, to ensure growth and market share gain. The Director also works to develop the tools to enable our sales and solution services teams to deliver complete solutions, a critical component to meet the Connection, Inc., objective of maximizing sales revenue and gross profit. Travel is required with routine frequency up to 50%.
Responsibilities
  • Designs and executes go-to-market strategy to drive revenue and gross profit growth across banking, insurance, and fintech
    • Architects technology solutions addressing regulatory compliance, risk management, operational efficiency challenges, etc.
    • Monitors industry trends and competitive dynamics to identify high-value business opportunities
    • Defines differentiated product offerings to accelerate financial services market penetration
  • Serves as financial services domain expert within the CNXN Helix Center for Applied AI and Robotics practice
  • Creates industry-specific materials to generate demand and accelerate sales cycles
  • Provides strategic guidance to leadership on market conditions and business opportunities
  • Establishes and nurtures strategic partnerships with vendor partners and industry associations
  • Partners with Sales to qualify opportunities, develop proposals, and deepen customer engagement. Leads customer discovery sessions and solution demonstrations with C-suite executives and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with Product Management, Marketing, and other teams across the organization.
  • Designs vertical market training programs and certification pathways for Sales
  • Establishes thought leadership through content publication, conference speaking, and industry advisory participation
    • Develops white papers, webinars, and marketing assets positioning the company as a preferred financial services technology partner
    • Serves as thought leader for strategic accounts, identifying expansion opportunities
    • Conducts market research to validate assumptions and inform strategy
  • Represents Connection at industry events, and acts as a key contributor to the planning process for these activities.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial services with a deep understanding of banking, insurance, investment management, and/or emerging fintech sector
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial regulations and their business implication
  • Current awareness of industry trends, competitive landscape, emerging threats, and growth opportunities across financial services verticals
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly master new technologies, platforms, and tools while translating technical concepts for diverse audiences
  • Conversant in Artificial Intelligence (AI), including experience with financial services use cases and solutions
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills with ability to synthesize complex information and develop actionable business strategies
  • Experience managing relationships with C-suite executives, regulatory bodies, and key decision-makers at financial institutions

  • Deep understanding of B2B sales cycles in financial services with ability to serve as trusted advisor to sales leadership and field teams
