Business Development Manager (Heavy Civil Construction)

Location: Markham, ON.

Compensation: $150,000-$200,000 (based on experience)

THE OPPORTUNITY:

On behalf of our client an established Civil Contracting company, TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is searching for a Business Development Manager to join a dynamic and growing team. The Business Development Manager will play a key role in identifying, developing and securing project opportunities into awarded contracts.

THE ROLE: The Business Development Manager will be responsible for owning market strategy, developing, leading the development of proposals, and building long term relationships with owners, engineers and developers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing and Opportunity Management

  • Identify and develop opportunities for Design-Build andP3 projects to drive strategic growth.
  • Oversee pipeline tracking across public and private sectors to ensure early positioning with key owners, designers and partners.
  • Make recommendations regarding the pursuit of projects based on company strategy, risk profile and financial objectives
  • Provide ongoing market insight on competitors, clients, partners and industry trends to inform business strategy.

Proposals and Contract Management

  • Provide leadership across the full lifecycle of Design Build projects from opportunity identification to contract award.
  • Work in conjunction with internal teams to create and deliver competitive proposals.
  • Develop value propositions, win strategies, and differentiators that set the organization apart from its competitors.

Client Partnerships and Growth

  • Support relationship building efforts with clients, owners, engineers and contractors.
  • Lead the identification and engagement of design and joint-venture partners to support strategic pursuits.

Strategy and Reporting

  • Work with senior leadership to align pursuit strategies with company growth strategy
  • Monitor and assess emerging delivery models, market shifts and client priorities to identify new growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to long-term business planning and forecasting to support decision making.
  • Identify new markets and project delivery approaches.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction with an emphasis on Design Build or alternative delivery related to roads, bridges or water/sewer projects.
  • Bachelors of Engineering degree, Construction Management or Business is required.
  • MBA is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience of winning contracts in excess of $20 million dollars.
