Job description

Fundata is seeking a motivated and results-driven Bilingual Business Development Associate to support our Business Development team in driving growth and expanding market reach. This is a junior position, ideal for candidates with foundational experience in sales, client relations, or business development. Reporting directly to the Director of Business Development, the successful candidate will play an integral role in identifying new business opportunities, fostering client relationships, and supporting the execution of strategic sales initiatives. We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Compensation:
Base salary of $54,000 to $62,000 (dependent on experience), bonuses, monthly car allowance (when business travel is required), excellent benefits, and GRSP matching.

Job Location:

This role is based in Toronto (401 and Leslie area) with occasional travel required for client meetings (both within the GTA and Quebec) and industry conferences/events. This is a hybrid role with some days spent in office.


Key Accountabilities:

Support the Business Development team in identifying and researching potential clients, partners, and market opportunities.

Assist in servicing existing clients by responding to inquiries, coordinating deliverables, and maintaining a high standard of client service.

Manage the new client onboarding and setup process, ensuring internal systems are updated and the billing is accurate and timely.

Monitor client accounts to prevent billing gaps or delays and work with internal teams to resolve any issues promptly.

Assist in preparing client presentations, proposals, pitch materials, and follow-up communications.

Maintain and update CRM systems to track leads, opportunities, and client interactions accurately.

Coordinate internal and external meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, and tracking action items.

Conduct market and industry research to support strategic planning and business development efforts.

Help track business development KPIs and generate regular reports for leadership.

Work with the Marketing and Product teams to ensure that client-facing materials align with business goals.

Provide administrative and operational support to ensure the Business Development team operates efficiently.

Travel independently or with a colleague to meet clients and attend conferences as needed to foster learning and network with current and potential clients.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Experience in business development within the financial industry, specifically in the investment fund sector.

Strong command of both the English and French language (both written and verbal).

Strong drive to succeed with a team-oriented attitude, aiming to meet revenue targets while delivering excellent client service.

A dynamic and passionate presenter capable of engaging diverse audiences.

Proven ability to persuade and negotiate through consultation, active listening, and effective communication.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships.

Proven sales aptitude, with experience in business development and prospecting.

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and balance both operations and sales strategy.

Demonstrated attention to detail, with the ability to use balanced judgment and problem-solving skills.

Excellent command of MS Office Suite; familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.


Experience/Education:

Bachelor's degree.

A minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in business development, sales, or a client-facing role within the financial or mutual fund industry.

A network of relationships within the financial or mutual fund industry.
