What is Business Analyst Training Placement?

Business Analyst Training Placement is a program designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to begin a career as a business analyst, followed by assistance in finding a job placement. These programs typically include training in business analysis methodologies, tools, and techniques, along with practical projects and interview preparation. After completing the training, participants often receive support with resume building, job search, and placement opportunities. The goal is to bridge the gap between learning and employment for aspiring business analysts.

What does the typical training and placement process look like for a Business Analyst Training Placement program?

In a Business Analyst Training Placement program, you can expect a structured blend of classroom or virtual instruction, hands-on projects, and mentorship from experienced analysts. Training often covers core BA concepts such as requirements gathering, process modeling, and common tools like Excel, SQL, or Jira. After the learning phase, candidates usually participate in simulated or real client projects to apply their skills before being matched with placement opportunities at partner organizations. The process is designed to build your confidence and ensure you’re job-ready for entry-level business analyst roles.

To thrive as a Business Analyst in a training placement, you need foundational knowledge of business processes, analytical thinking, and a relevant degree in business, IT, or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Excel, SQL, and business intelligence software, along with certifications such as CBAP or CCBA, is often expected. Strong communication, problem-solving, and adaptability are important soft skills that help build stakeholder relationships and manage changing requirements. These skills and qualifications enable effective requirements gathering, data-driven decision-making, and successful project outcomes.

Job description

Job Title: Senior IT Business Analyst / Systems Analyst
Location: Remote & Oklahoma City, OK (Occasional on-site meetings as needed)
Schedule: Standard hours 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CT (Flexible schedule available with PM approval)
Overview

The Teachers’ Retirement System of Oklahoma (TRS) is undertaking a comprehensive, multi-year modernization initiative to replace legacy platforms—including full retirement of the legacy ALICE platform—and transition to a unified, cloud-native environment.

WiredPeople is seeking a Senior IT Business Analyst / Systems Analyst to play a vital role in building MyPAS 3.0, a modern Azure-hosted pension administration system that integrates with the MyTRS member portal and MyERS employer portal. TRS serves over 210,000 active members and retirees across more than 600 school districts, higher education institutions, and career tech centers.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and engineering teams. You will drive process discovery, map complex workflows, translate operational needs into detailed Azure DevOps user stories, and support user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure smooth delivery.

Key Responsibilities1. Process Analysis & Workflow Mapping
  • Engage with TRS business units to analyze current operational workflows, identify pain points, and define future-state operational models.

  • Interface with developers, architects, and IT staff to translate technical dependencies into functional requirements.

  • Document current and future state processes using structured techniques, including swimlane diagrams, process maps, and workflow diagrams.

2. Requirements Gathering & Backlog Management
  • Translate complex business requirements into clear, testable functional specifications, acceptance criteria, and Azure DevOps work items.

  • Partner with Product Owners and technical teams to refine, prioritize, and validate backlog items.

  • Ensure all documented requirements meet quality standards and align with organizational priorities.

3. Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Develop comprehensive test plans, scripts, and step-by-step instructions for functional and user acceptance testing.

  • Execute functional testing in Development and Test environments to validate feature readiness prior to release.

  • Log and track software defects, coordinate resolution efforts with developers, and re-test fixes.

  • Lead and support business stakeholders during User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions.

4. Stakeholder Collaboration & Change Management
  • Act as the primary liaison between business units and technical development teams to maintain shared alignment.

  • Provide proactive project updates, communicate risks, and address requirement ambiguities early.

  • Contribute to change management efforts by developing user manuals, documentation, and training guides.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Business Analysis & Documentation: Proven experience in IT business analysis, process modeling, and system workflow documentation.

  • Agile & DevOps Workflows: Hands-on experience drafting user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog items in Azure DevOps or similar ALM tools.

  • Testing & QA: Demonstrated experience in functional test execution, bug tracking, test case creation, and UAT coordination.

  • Problem Solving & Facilitation: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to facilitate discovery sessions and resolve requirement bottlenecks.

  • Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical jargon for business users and vice versa.

Location, Schedule & Travel Details
  • Work Location: Remote / Oklahoma City, OK.

  • Schedule: Core hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CT, with flexibility upon approval from the TRS Project Manager.

  • On-Site Attendance: Occasional in-person attendance in Oklahoma City may be required for key project milestones or workshops.
