Job description

The Xfinity Mobile Arena is one of the world’s busiest arenas, home of the Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia 76ers, Villanova University basketball, family shows and concerts. Since opening in 1996, the arena is the centerpiece of sports and entertainment in the greater Philadelphia region as well as prominently featured in the national spotlight. The 21,000-seat arena is a showcase arena for the company’s industry-leading qualities as an operator and an innovator in the live event experience.

Job Summary

The Building Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Building Services Department during assigned event shifts at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and support to union Building Services Associates while ensuring the arena is maintained in a clean, safe, sanitary, and guest-ready condition before, during, and after sporting events, concerts, family shows, corporate events, and other special events. The Supervisor monitors work performance, ensures compliance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, and quality standards, and serves as the primary point of contact for operational issues within assigned areas. The position requires strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced event environment.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise union Building Services Associates during assigned event shifts.
  • Monitor employee performance and productivity throughout the event.
  • Provide coaching, instruction, and guidance to employees while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Ensure employees comply with departmental policies, collective bargaining agreement provisions, SOPs, and safety requirements.
  • Document performance concerns and communicate issues to Building Services management.
  • Assist with employee training and onboarding of new staff.
  • Coordinate cleaning operations before, during, and after events.
  • Ensure all assigned areas meet arena cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Respond quickly to operational issues, guest concerns, and emergency cleaning situations.
  • Coordinate post-event cleaning activities to ensure timely building turnover.

Equipment & Supply Management

  • Ensure employees safely operate all cleaning equipment.
  • Inspect equipment before and after use.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned and properly stored following each event.
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, chemicals, paper products, liners, and equipment.
  • Coordinate replenishment of supplies as needed.
  • Ensure proper chemical handling and storage procedures are followed.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure employees utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Monitor safe chemical usage and compliance with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements.
  • Report accidents, injuries, hazards, and property damage immediately.
  • Assist with emergency response procedures when necessary.
  • Promote a safe working environment for employees, guests, contractors, and vendors.

Position Requirements

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
