The Role: DCO Systems Manager

As a DCO Systems Manager at Switch, you will lead daily operations for mission-critical data center infrastructure. This role is responsible for the reliability, maintenance, and operational readiness of electrical, mechanical, and environmental systems across assigned facilities. You will lead onsite technician teams, support infrastructure projects, and ensure work is completed safely, consistently, and in line with company standards. This role also works closely with clients, internal teams, and vendors to maintain service quality and operational uptime.

What Youll Do
  • Lead daily operations and maintenance activities for critical data center infrastructure.

  • Support the reliability and uptime of electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire suppression, and environmental systems.

  • Manage onsite technician schedules and ensure proper coverage across assigned sites.

  • Provide direction, coaching, and performance feedback to Systems team members.

  • Support hiring, onboarding, and development of technicians within the department.

  • Review and approve maintenance procedures, safety processes, and operational documentation.

  • Ensure work is completed in compliance with OSHA requirements, company policy, and operational standards.

  • Coordinate maintenance activities, vendor work, and infrastructure projects with internal stakeholders.

  • Respond to operational issues and support after-hours or emergency escalation activities when needed.

  • Use CMMS and asset management systems to track maintenance work, system health, and operational metrics.

  • Develop operational reports that identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.

  • Support process improvement efforts and participate in department planning initiatives.

  • Build strong working relationships with clients and support a consistent client experience.

  • Assist with budget planning and operational resource decisions for assigned facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in facilities, electrical, mechanical, or critical infrastructure operations.

  • 3+ years of people leadership or management experience.

  • Experience supporting mission-critical systems in a data center, industrial, facilities, or similar environment.

  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems used in critical environments, including UPS systems, generators, switchgear, cooling systems, PDUs, ATS/STS units, and fire suppression systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.

  • Experience using CMMS, asset management systems, or building management systems.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain it.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • Experience leading infrastructure maintenance or operational improvement projects.

  • Experience supporting operational reporting, metrics, or compliance programs.
