Job description

The Security officer maintains the security and safety of the Belk Store Services' Corporate associates, contractors, vendors, visitors and other tenants.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a constant mobile patrol of the BSS buildings and grounds as well as tenant spaces
  • Monitor all alarm systems in the Security Control Office (fire, security, environmental and safety) and respond according to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor all CCTV cameras in the Security Control Office and dispatch patrolling officer(s) as required
  • Maintain an up-to-dated, timely and informative radio/telephone log as well as other security logs and reports
  • Investigate and report, in writing, all unusual occurrences or events
  • Make, control and file associate and tenant access cards and information
  • Enter and retrieve information from security computers
  • Enforce all BSS security and safety regulations
  • Lock and unlock doors as requested
  • Control vendor and visitor access through the North Entrance Reception Desk
  • Monitor and provide assistance in the reservation and use of the Merchants Conference rooms to vendors and Buyers
  • Be trained and certified in the use of the Remote Monitoring CCTV's, computer and equipment for the purpose of assisting selected stores with Loss Prevention services
  • Provide security escort to staff, contractors, vendors and visitors as requested Coordinate fire fighting and/or evacuation
  • Provide assistance to injured persons
  • Conduct basic safety inspections of buildings and report discrepancies
  • Provide effective entrance/exit controls to ensure compliance with established I.D. badge control
  • Facilitate conservation in the areas of water, light, and HVAC as directed
  • Assist in crowd control and directions
  • Assist with Conference room assignments for merchandising vendors and buyer contacts.
  • Assist with Contractors for on-call personnel and access to BSS building and secure locations.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Valid North or South Carolina driver's license
  • Computer and CCTV experience
  • Security/Police/Military experience (preferred)
  • Possess effective communication skills and observation skills to direct security staff onsite and selected store managers in Loss Prevention procedures offsite
  • Ability to perform some lifting with assistance
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods Ability to withstand adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to understand/utilize computer equipment and commands
  • Ability to operate and effectively communicate with multi-line telephone system
  • Ability to operate and effectively communicate with multi-channel radios
  • Ability to maintain computer and paper files
  • Ability to operate and drive company vehicles
  • Ability to monitor and operate security related CCTV's both on-site and via remote video
  • Ability to monitor and operate fire alarm systems and extinguishers
  • Ability to observe associate/visitors behavior and communicate directions to them
  • Ability to observe store associates and customers with regard to illegal or unethical behavior and communicate to store management or Loss Prevention personnel
  • Ability to comprehend policies/procedures and communicate to associates, tenants and visitors
  • Ability to utilize keys and manipulate various locks
  • Ability to work rotating shifts as directed
