The Technical Workday Manager serves as a bridge between HR business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, owning end-to-end management and solution design across Workday HCM, Integrations and Security. This role will be responsible for leading a team of Workday developers utilizing deep technical knowledge with hands on technical capability to design scalable, compliant, and efficient enterprise solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Architecture & Delivery
  • Oversee Workday integration developers, pursuing innovative initiatives and improvements in current Workday technology processes
  • Provide technical guidance for design and support of our inbound/outbound integrations using:
    • Workday Studio
    • EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder)
    • Core Connectors
    • Workday Web Services (REST/SOAP APIs)
    • BIRT reporting
    • XML, XSLT transformations
    • Workday Orchestrate
  • Oversee vendor management for our integration portfolio (e.g., payroll providers, benefits vendors, ServiceNow, background check vendors), including production support and maintenance.

Security, Risk & Governance
  • Oversee Workday Security administration developers to align with our operating model, deliver production support for security assignments, enhance controls via security reviews, and execute our Workday scramble and refresh plans in implementation tenants.
  • Provide design guidance for Workday Security configuration for enhancements, to address defects, or evaluate new functionality (i.e., Business Process Config/Policy, integration security segments, report security etc.).
  • Own governance frameworks for access, role rationalization, and audit readiness.
  • Conduct regular audits on Workday access to ensure accuracy and compliance and respond to requests for security audits as needed working with our HR, HR Risk or leadership teams.

Functional Configuration
  • Partner with HR Systems leads to providing design guidance as needed across Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Recruiting, Talent, and Payroll modules, looking for automation opportunities between functional and technical development within Workday.
  • Conduct impact assessments for releases, enhancements, and regulatory changes.

Program & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead technical workshops and discovery sessions.
  • Translate BRDs into user stories and technical design documentation.
  • Provide executive-level updates on roadmap, risk, and integration stability.
  • Mentor junior analysts, integration developers, and functional configurators.
  • Drive release management strategy and regression testing coordination.
  • Maintain detailed documentation related to project work, HR Systems internal documentation & frameworks, and process guides.

Required Experience
  • 7+ years of Workday experience in HCM configuration, integration and/or security
  • Prior management experience preferred
  • Ability to provide a proactive and independent approach to problem-solving, identifying opportunities for system improvement and driving initiatives without constant supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and adjust to shifting priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to recognize risk and remediate/mitigate as needed
  • Experience supporting or leading full lifecycle Workday implementations or major tenant refreshes
  • Experience operating in regulated or compliance-driven environments
  • Strong understanding of data governance, SOX control, SDLC management, and security best practices

Salary Range
NJ: $140,000-$190,000 base salary + annual bonus target
MA: $130,000-$180,000 base salary + annual bonus targe
