QUALIFICATIONS- Meets state requirements for education qualifications, which are 24 college credit hours. Ability to assist implementing an instructional support program with students of varying ages and sizes. Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal communication skills. Talent should be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with Broward County Public Schools staff and students. Maintain student and school personnel confidentiality. Talent endeavors to understand and respect the values and traditions of the diverse culture and community represented in the classroom. Manifests a positive role in school and community relations. Additional qualifications to the above as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable and as agreed upon by Kelly Education (KE).
The authority reported to while on school property is the Broward County Public Schools Principal and/or Building Administrator.
JOB GOAL- is to provide instruction for scheduled lessons, handle the classroom environment and promote student learning in the absence of the normal classroom teacher.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Substitute Teachers work at all times under direction and supervision of Broward County Public Schools employees, and shall exercise the following responsibilities:
Report to school office at beginning of school day to pick up required materials/schedule of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials. Dress in a safe and appropriate manner as described in the KE Standards of Professional Conduct. Follow sign in/sign out procedures as prescribed by the Broward County Public Schools principal.
Assume duties of the regular Broward County Public Schools classroom teacher promptly and in compliance with school rules. May supervise students in out-of-class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom) as advised and supervised by Broward County Public Schools principal. Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates students to learn and participate. Teach students regarding a variety of classroom topics/courses of instruction, as determined by the Broward County Public Schools lesson plan.
Builds a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Address the various learning styles of students accordingly. Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students in congruence with the Broward County Public Schools lesson plans. If serious or disruptive student behavior problems occur, seeks assistance from a neighboring Broward County Public Schools teacher or a building administrator.

The KE Substitute Educator should never make judgment calls as to the authenticity of a student’s request in this regard unless otherwise advised by Broward County Public Schools personnel.
Ensures that the students are never left unattended in the classroom. Report student injury, accidents, illness, and/or incidents to Kelly supervisor and Broward County Public Schools personnel immediately. Report all personal injury or school property theft to Kelly supervisor and Broward County Public Schools personnel immediately.
