Position Summary:

The Bed and Bread Driver is responsible for driving a truck on a designated route to make predetermined stops, loading and unloading meals, and respectfully serving meals to individuals at each stop. The role also includes the pick-up and delivery of donated items, conducting daily maintenance checks, and ensuring the cleanliness of the vehicle.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drive truck on route making predetermined stops according to schedule
  • Load and unload meals on the truck
  • Prepare and respectfully serve meals to all present at the stops
  • Pick up and/or delivery of donated items using box trucks as assigned
  • Transport items needing the use of box truck
  • Complete daily maintenance check of truck and report problems to designated person
  • Maintain cleanliness of truck while on route and thoroughly clean truck after route is completed
  • Assist in picking up donated items
  • Log the number of persons served
  • Safely operate vehicle and follow all ruling road
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Ability to get along with people
  • Dependability
  • Good communication skills
  • TB Test and police clearance required
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Computer Skills:

  • Basic computer skills required

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
  • Valid Michigan Chauffeur license and approved by The Salvation Army MVR
  • Pass an MDOT physical
