Job description

Frog Holler delivers the freshest produce and specialty foods to Detroit, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, and Toledo’s best restaurants, hotels, and sporting arenas! Frog Holler Produce seeks an experienced Maintenance Technician whom will be responsible for the preventative and reparative maintenance of the company’s buildings, machinery, and equipment. This position ensures that all warehouse equipment is maintained in a safe and operating condition.

Essential Job Functions:

  • 1st Shift Monday – Friday expected 7am – 5pm availability and ‘on call’ repairs as needed.
  • General maintenance of the building and grounds to including basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of warehouse equipment, including forklifts, conveyor systems, pallet jacks, and packaging machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, identify root causes of equipment malfunctions, and implement effective repair solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct repairs, replacements, and adjustments of faulty parts and components, ensuring that all equipment operates in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs performed, parts used, and scheduled maintenance tasks. Keep an inventory of spare parts and initiate reordering as necessary.
  • Ensure that all warehouse equipment meets safety regulations and standards. Conduct regular safety checks, identify potential hazards, and promptly address any safety concerns.
  • Provide training and guidance to warehouse staff on proper equipment usage, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Work closely with warehouse supervisors and managers to understand operational needs and develop effective maintenance schedules and strategies.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency. Recommend and implement process improvements and equipment upgrades as appropriate.
  • Liaise with equipment suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers for warranty claims, repairs, and equipment upgrades. Maintain good working relationships with external vendors.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and hydraulic systems related to warehouse equipment. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing a variety of equipment, including forklifts, conveyors, and packaging machinery.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role, preferably in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution center environment.
  • Relevant certifications in equipment maintenance and repair (e.g., forklift certification, electrical certification) are highly desirable.
  • Diesel experience highly desired.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems, identify solutions, and implement effective repair strategies.
  • In-depth understanding of safety regulations and protocols related to warehouse operations. Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Strong observational skills to identify equipment malfunctions, diagnose issues accurately, and perform precise repairs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to provide clear instructions, documentation, and training to warehouse staff and external vendors.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple maintenance projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and support warehouse operations as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.

Working Conditions:

  • Must have the ability to repetitively bend, twist and lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to work 20 to 30 feet off the ground and work in various temperatures and humidity is necessary.
