Division Information
The Home & Garden business unit of Spectrum Brands is based in St. Louis, Missouri with distribution, manufacturing and sales offices throughout the US and globe. We are a leading supplier of consumer products nationally for the home, lawn and garden, insect and weed control markets. We deliver groundbreaking products of exceptional value and top-notch quality to consumers with our well-recognized brands including Spectracide®, Hot Shot®, Cutter®, Repel®, Black Flag®, Garden Safe®, EcoLogic® and Liquid Fence®.
Job Summary
The Senior Brand Manager, Innovation will lead the development and execution of new product innovation across the brand portfolio. This role is responsible for identifying consumer and category opportunities, building innovation strategies, developing new product concepts, and leading cross-functional teams from idea through commercialization.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Innovation Strategy &Pipeline Development
  • Lead the development of the brand innovation pipeline, including new product improvements, packaging upgrades, line extensions, and commercial opportunities.
  • Identify attractive opportunity spaces using consume insights, category trends, competitive analysis, retailer needs, and business performance data.
  • Translate insights into clear product concepts, consumer benefits, claims, positioning, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Build short and long-term innovation roadmaps that support brand growth, category expansion, and profitability goals.

New Product Development & Commercialization
  • Lead cross-functional teams through the innovation process, from ideation and concept development through launch execution.
  • Manage project timelines, key milestones, decision points, risks, and deliverables to keep initiatives moving with urgency and discipline.
  • Develop compelling product positioning, claims, packaging communication, and sell-in materials.

Business & Brand Management
  • Own business cases for innovation initiatives, including volume assumptions, pricing, margin, COGS, investment needs, and financial returns.
  • Partner with Sales to develop persuasive retailer stories that communicate the size of the opportunity, consumer need, product advantage, and financial upside.
  • Support annual planning, forecasting, budget management, and brand growth initiatives as needed.

Education and Experience Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field. MBA or advanced business degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in brand management, innovation, product marketing, category management, or related commercial roles.
  • Experience developing or launching new products, product improvements, packaging changes, or business-building initiatives.

Required Skills
  • Strong understanding of consumer insights, brand positioning, product claims, and go-to-market strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence without direct authority.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities in a fast-paced enviornment.
  • Strong business acumen, including comfort with P&L drivers, pricing, margin, volume assumptions, and financial modeling.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in consumer packaged goods, household products, cleaning, pest control, home care, personal care, or another branded consumer product.
  • Experience working with major retailers such as Walmart, Target, Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe's. grocery, club, or mass retail.
  • Experience with Stage-Gate or similar innovation development practices.
