THE ROLE

Assists the Box Office Manager in overseeing ticket sales and all aspects of Box Office operation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the Box Office Manager with all box office functions.

  • Manages the box office when Box Office Manager is out and for smaller events.

  • Assists Box Office Manager with building and modifying all ticketed events.

  • Helps with building presales as requested by the Sales Manager.

  • Maintain a presale and on sale calendar.

  • Returns unsold presale inventory to the general public on sale on a timely manner.

  • Maintains accurate inventory of all tickets distributed and available for sale.

  • Monitors daily ticket sales for all upcoming events and communicates information to facility management and promoter as needed.

  • Monitors presales scheduling and inventory.

  • With box office manager, maintain files for each event including holds, comp tickets, audits, etc.

  • Assists with supervising the ticket sellers.

  • Sells tickets as needed.

  • Prepares and submits box office statements for settlements as needed and daily reports of business transactions to the finance department.

  • Assists with the distribution of tickets.

  • Processes group sales orders and complimentary ticket requests.

  • Assists with preparation of the final Box Office statement for settlement of each event.

  • Responds to customer complaints and service requests to maintain a positive rapport with the ticket buying public.

  • Maintains files on each event that consist of seats on-hold for the building and promoter, complimentary ticket vouchers, event audits and ticket inventory schedules.

  • Maintains accurate count of tickets sold.

  • Assists the Box office Manager with management of Ticket Sellers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with SMG's policies and applicable laws.

  • Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work flexible hours based on events, including daytime, evening, weekends and holidays, as needed

  • Must have professional attitude and appearance

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • 1 to 2 years related experience required

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience in accounting and customer service essential

  • Box office experience in a similar environment strongly preferred

  • Supervisory experience desired

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills required

  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and financial procedures, including record keeping and reconciliation

  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices

  • Ability to coordinate and schedule staff

  • Excellent good customer service and public relations skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ticket selling/box office operations

  • Ability to count money, make change accurately

  • Experience with spreadsheets and computerized ticket systems desirable.
