Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties in the Theatre Box Office and administrative offices.
Typical Duties Performed
- Ensure an excellent guest experience.
- Sells tickets to theatre events at box office, by telephone, over the Internet, or through mail order.
- Answer patron inquiries which may include questions about current and upcoming shows, parking, dining, and other general information inquiries.
- Uses a computerized ticketing system to process ticket sales, refunds and exchanges, payments, and reconcile all transactions.
- Prepares daily cash reports and bank deposits.
- Responsible for box office cash drawers including maintenance of security, set up of starting cash fund, and balancing of funds.
- Verifies and reports all cash, credit cards, gift certificates, refunds, and exchange transactions.
- Maintains office files, supplies and database.
- Adheres to City and departmental policies and procedures; performs related work duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old. Knowledge of: Personal computers; computerized ticketing systems preferred; computer skills, web-based applications, and data processing software; telephone etiquette; basic bookkeeping functions; cash, credit card, or other revenue transactions; general office procedures. Ability to: Accurately perform ticket sales transactions; communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; work in a high-volume and sometimes stressful environment; work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays; exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact, and utilize quality customer service skills and techniques; perform basic mathematical functions with speed and accuracy; present a clean, neat appearance appropriate for public contact. Lift up to 25 lbs. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: One year of experience in a position with public contact is required. Experience in a computerized box office or ticketing position is desired. Computer experience is required. Graduation from high school or the equivalent is required. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Possession of a valid California Class C driver license is required.

Appointments are normally made at the first step of the salary range. Consideration and approval for a salary higher than the first step is done on a case-by-case basis.
