Position Overview: The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire Executive Secretary II. The successful candidate, under direction of Bureau Chief of Airport Engineering, performs administrative secretarial work for the manager of an agency's medium program; or performs secretarial work for the manager of an agency's major program; prepares and/or keyboards documents which have an impact on program policies and procedures as well as collective bargaining issues; may supervise staff engaged in lower level office support functions.
Essential Functions: As secretary to the Bureau Chief of Airport Engineering, performs a variety of clerical and technical duties. Performs support functions for the Bureau of Airport Engineering staff as assigned by the Bureau Chief. Maintains and organizes all Division of Airport Engineering documentation. Serves as receptionist for the Bureau of Airport Engineering. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications: Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of secretarial or business college and two years of secretarial experience or completion of high school and four years of secretarial experience. Requires a minimum typing speed of 55 words per minute. Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the stated requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of specific proficiency tests and training programs.

Conditions of Employment: Requires successful completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history. Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position.
