Job description

As an integral part of a team, Host Help is responsible for continuously looking for ways to improve each guestโ€™s experience from providing exceptional guest service to greeting, escorting, and seating at their tables ensuring Hotel standards of service.ย  Take reservations and maintain reservation book assist in monitoring the guests' needs.ย  Assist in preparing the Restaurant for service and maintaining the cleanliness of the room at all times.ย 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range and dress code of the restaurant.
  2. Prepare station chart and assign stations to staff following departmental procedures.
  3. Report shortages to Manager.
  4. Fill out F&B request forms and distribute.
  5. Inspect the Restaurant environment and entrance area, ensuring that all standards are met; rectify any deficiencies; maintain cleanliness at all times.
  6. Check throughout meal period and relay deficiencies to respective personnel and follow up on corrections.
  7. Guide the Servers in table set-up needs to ensure optimum service to guests.
  8. Take, record and confirm restaurant reservations/cancellations.
  9. Escort guests to tables and assist in seating at tables; present menus and extend pleasantries.
  10. Accommodate all requests for information courteously.
  11. Communicate VIP arrivals and special requests to designated personnel for follow up.
  12. Extend courteous departures as guests leave the restaurant and invite them to return.
  13. Complete closing duties as assigned.
  14. Oversee all aspects of restaurant during absence of Manager and/or Assistant.
  15. Legibly document pertinent information in restaurant log book.
  16. Perform all other duties as may be required or assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum two (2) years prior experience in a similar position dealing with the general public.
  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate, prior restaurant service and guest relations experience preferred.
  • Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • TB clearance (state law requirement).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Ability to anticipate guest needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
  • Ensure familiarity with all hotel services/features and local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain positive guest relations at all times.
