Job description

Description:

Receives limited supervision. Performs general arc welding (“MIG”) process, operates machinery to perform grinding; may be required to be trained in using Hyd & CNC brake press and shears & CNC plasma cutting. Fabrication jobs typically consist of a complex variety of processes and assembly, for completing assigned tasks with high quality and on schedule. Must use AWS standards/processes certified in both hardwire and flux core wire welding processes.

  • Reads and follows plans, material lists and guidelines and applies necessary timelines.
  • Operates welding equipment, arc gouging equipment, oxy-fuel and brazing torches, jigs, holding fixtures, measuring instruments, personal computer (PC) and hand tools.
  • Conducts visual and dimensional check of own work and completed work of lower level welders plus provides work assistance/guidance/training to lower level Welders as required.
  • Follows general work orders and specific safety procedures in the fabrication of difficult production parts and a variety of sub and final weldments of all sizes and configurations through general arc welding, MIG.
  • Work requires hand set-ups. Completes, modifies, and/or enhances final products as required.
  • Operates drill press, brake press & other equipment. Must read drawings (blueprints) in order to fabricate a variety of complex, low and high-volume parts. Required to inspect & approve own work prior to next operation.
  • Maintains work area, equipment and supplies in neat, organized manner.
  • Final inspection of finished work and timely completion of associated paperwork.
  • Provide assistance to co-workers as requested by department management.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in all weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Your manager will provide you with the specific details of your schedule. The schedule is subject to change due to customer requirements or business needs. Overtime may be necessary to handle emergencies, heavy workloads or other issues.


Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area and overnight travel may be expected. All travel must be approved in advance by management. Please reference the employee handbook for all applicable policies.


Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Related experience or completed training.
  • Advanced computer skills specifically Microsoft products.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Trade School Certification
  • Similar or related product knowledge.
  • Experience in a production environment.
